YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING
Scouting America places the greatest importance on creating the most secure environment possible for our youth members. All leaders are required to complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) every two years and parents are encouraged to complete this as well. More information about Scouting America's commitment to our youth and additional resources can be found here: Youth Protection Information
ORGANIZATIONAL TERMINOLOGY
Dens - A small group of Cub Scouts who are in the same grade.
Pack - The Pack is made up of several dens. Each Pack is identified by a number; we are Pack 9148 (aka Pack 148).
Chartered Organization - This is the organization that partners with Scouting America to deliver the Scouting program in a local area. We are chartered by the Knights of Columbus Council 1762 of Hudson.
MEETINGS
Each month, the Pack strives to host a Den Meeting, a Pack Meeting, and one additional monthly activity.
Den Meetings are typically held the 1st or 2nd Tuesday of each month, while Pack Meetings are typically the 4th Tuesday of the month. Holiday schedules and other conflicts may cause some movement in these activities so check with your Den Leader for the latest schedule.
Meetings are generally held in the basement of the Dining Hall at YMCA Camp St. Croix in Hudson.
SCOUTBOOK & ACTIVITY SIGN-UP
A few days after registering in the Pack, you will recieve an invitation to join Scoutbook. This is the program used to communicate with families, track your scout's advancement, and access the official Pack calendar.
Cub Scout events are unique in that they are generally family events. To appropriately plan for these events, we often need families to sign-up through the calendar in Scoutbook Plus. Please use the RSVP option in the Pack calendar to indicate attendance and add comments to indicate the number of family members attending.
COST & FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The cost of registering in Scouting America is $205 for the 2024-2025 Scouting Year.
Pack 148 and Northern Star Council are committed to making Scouting available to all interested youth.
There is an option during the registration process to request financial assistance for annual registration costs.
Money earned as a part of the annual Pack fundraiser can be used towards registration costs, uniform expenses, or other expenses associated with the Scouting program.
Additional assistance may be available for Pack activities as well.
FUNDRAISING
The Pack has one major fundraising event each year - POPCORN! Sales of Popcorn typically start in late September and run through October. Through the generous contributions of family, friends, and an outstanding community, we often sell over $50,000 in popcorn each year!
The Pack relies heavily on the funds generated by this fundraiser, so everyone'e participation is expected and appreciated. First-year Scouts are encouraged to participate, but not required.
